Rules & Guidelines
Last Updated: April 17, 2007

Welcome to Dave's Mortal Kombat Forums! Before getting involved in the community discussion, the forum staff requires that all registered members read through and understand the following completely.

1. Use CORRECT E-MAIL in registration process
New registrations are sent an activation e-mail ensuring the e-mail address the user signed up with is correct. Obviously if the e-mail specified is either bogus or incorrect, the user will not be able to activate his or her account. For those who encounter this problem, please supply the correct e-mail address to an Administrator and your account will be activated manually.

2. NO multiple/spoofing screen names
Creating more than one screen name is strictly prohibited. If for any reason you are not happy with your first registered screen name DO NOT create a new one, please contact the forum staff to have your SN changed. Spoofing a current user name with similar spelling or characters to mislead or confuse the community will be warned or banned and deleted without hesitation. Before registering, please run a search confirming the screen name of your choosing is not already in use. Do not create screen names spoofing the DMK Forum Staff or other well known names in the Mortal Kombat Community (including the MK Development Team and Midway Games staff).

3. NO inappropiate material
Gore, pornography, illegal subjects such as roms, warez, etc. are all strictly forbidden. This website is public domain, and we will not let the foolish acts of another allow it to be shutdown.

4. DO NOT abuse the User Reputation System
The following rules apply:

  • NO obscene language of any kind.
  • NO harassment towards others.
  • NO racial comments of any kind.

If foul play is suspected or an inappropriate negative reputation comment is given, the Forum Staff will not hesitate to act upon it.

5. Post in the CORRECT FORUM
Please make sure you post in the right forum when creating threads. For example, introducing yourself in General Mortal Kombat Discussion is not appropriate. Intro threads belong in the Introductions forum. If you are unsure where your thread should be placed, contact the forum staff after posting your message and it will be moved accordingly.

6. Stay ONTOPIC
Sometimes popular threads get closed for unfortunate reasons. The most common reason why threads are forced to be closed are due to users having the tendency to lose focus on the thread's original subject. No one wants to be blamed for closed threads so it is required that off topic comments are kept in Shoutbox forum.

7. NO spamming of any kind
Examples are as follows: posts with three letter words such as lol/LOL alone, replying to a question and saying something like "I don’t know" or "what a stupid question", posts with very little content or not well thought out, advertising outside of the Advertising Forum and offensive posts. To make it simple, spam is found where it is not appropriate or unwelcomed.

8. NO flooding
Posting messages excessively in short intervals is prohibited. For example, posting messages with inappropriate, little meaning, or very small content back to back will not be tolerated. This is no way to boost your post count.

9. NO flaming directed at other members
If you have a problem with another member(s), please DO NOT call them out publicly. The only suitable solution is to simply PM the user and discuss your issue behind closed doors.

10. NO discrimination of any kind
Discrimination of one's race, sex, religion and/or lifestyle will not be tolerated in any way shape or form. If we suspect any sort of discrimination, we will not hesitate to act upon it.

11. NO bumping threads/topics
Replying to a thread more than 2 weeks old should not be resurrected unless totally relevant to the thread’s original purpose. If the forum staff feels the thread may continue with further posts the thread will remain open. More often than not, bumped threads will be immediately closed and the "bumper" will be issued with a warning.

12. NO duplicate threads
When creating a new thread in any given forum, please run a search (in all forums) identifying whether or not the thread of your choosing has been previously discussed. Tieing into rule #11, please do not bump a previously discussed thread unless your input is highly relevant. For example, adding an update to the July 2005 London bombings or announcing updated release information for Mortal Kombat action figures are considered appropriate thread resurrections. "Stating your opinion and ignoring all previous responses" bumps however, will be considered a rule #11 violation. For example, replying to "Who's your favorite character" or "Who would win a fight" threads are not worthy bumps. To reply to these types of threads without being warned for bumping, please refer to the DMK Classic Threads forum. If you are unsure whether your response is permitted outside of DMK Classic Threads, please ask the Forum Staff for permission.

13. DO NOT create public drama
When engaging in a negative private conversation with another member(s), DO NOT post the log publicly on the forums for everyone to see. You're only making yourself look like a fool and creating unwanted drama that often forms confusion and tension amongst the community.

14. DO NOT abuse 30 characters per post feature
Enabled to prevent short useless posts, the 30 characters per post feature is not to be abused. There are no first or second warnings for users posting less than 30 characters and his or her post will be deleted immediately. Posting less than the minimum characters and following up with a complaint for example "Stupid 30 character rule" will also not be tolerated. The only forum void of this ruling is Forum Games.
